Clandras Bridge
The historical bridge in the Karahallı district of Uşak, dating back to the Phrygian period, was built over the Banaz Stream approximately 2,500 years ago. The ends of the bridge rest on the mid-sections of mountain rocks. It measures 24 meters in length, 17 meters in height, and 1.75 meters in width.
The surfaces of the stones were crafted with tools, and the large stones of the arches were securely interlocked using a mortise-and-tenon technique. The arch itself is hoop-shaped.
The bridge consists of two main structures referred to as "elephant feet" and was constructed using a cantilever technique on solid rock. There are no clues regarding its original purpose. However, in recent years, one of the keystones became loose, and the bridge was repaired with concrete, which compromised its originality.
Next to the bridge is the Karahallı Power Plant. Water discharged from the plant flows through a concrete channel and cascades down a 17-meter drop beside the bridge.
Clandras Bridge and its surroundings serve as a significant recreational area for the region.
